Nuclear Compliance Manual

The sections in CSI’s Nuclear Compliance QA Manual define the quality assurance program for Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI) computer software utilized in the design of safety-related structures, systems or components for the nuclear power or nuclear waste processing industries. These sections are developed to meet the relevant requirements of:

• 10CFR50 Appendix B, “Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants”
• American National Standard, ASME NQA-1-1994 (NQA-1) “Quality Assurance Program Requirements for Nuclear Facilities”
• 10CFR Part 21, “Reporting of Defects and Noncompliance”

Requirements of the three above-mentioned codes that are not explicitly covered in the manual are considered to be irrelevant to the quality assurance program. The manual contains those quality assurance requirements that apply to SAP2000 software and related services specifically provided under the regulatory requirements listed above.

SAP2000 software provided for non-nuclear applications is processed under an ISO 9001 quality assurance system. The Nuclear Compliance QA Manual applies to work activities that take place at or for CSI that include design, modification, order processing, inspection, testing, technical review and support, as well as other quality-affecting activities. Additionally, these requirements may pertain to suppliers and subcontractors as required by the appropriate codes, standards and purchase order requirements. The sections contained in the manual reflect the integration of applicable requirements from the regulatory requirements referenced above, and CSI’s quality management system. These baseline requirements represent the policies, goals and objectives of the organization combined with good management practices designed to ensure that only the highest level of quality and safety are designed into the software product.

Error Notification Service

CSI also offers an enhanced error notification service for customers wishing to comply with regulations set forth by the nuclear industry.
