ABOUT THE EVENT | Come and find out why the safest place to be during an earthquake is probably in one of those San Francisco high rises! A fascinating fun filled insight into how engineers and geologists are using modern technology to design buildings and bridges to withstand major temblors. And how it works! Learn how cutting edge technology lets us to create mathematical models of structures in the computer memory, allows us shake the models with simulated earthquakes, and then identifies weaknesses in the structures so that the problems can be fixed before the next earthquake hits. See a simulated recreation of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake roll through the San Francisco Bay Area.Experience exciting engineering animations of San Francisco landmarks, such as the Golden Gate Bridge and City Hall, swaying in the 1906 earthquake!
